Why Choose Spray Foam Insulation ?
Not all insulation is created equal.
Traditional insulation materials like fiberglass and cellulose can leave gaps that allow conditioned air to escape. Over time, they may settle, compress, or lose effectiveness.
Spray foam insulation expands during application, sealing tiny cracks, joints, and penetrations that are often impossible to insulate with conventional materials.

Energy efficiency starts with keeping conditioned air where you want it. Spray foam combines insulation with air sealing to help reduce unwanted air movement.
When properly installed, both open-cell and closed-cell spray foam outperform every other insulation there is, except for Aerogel. But unless you are NASA building a spaceship, you'll have to settle for the next best thing -- Spray Foam

Take a look at this photo... For remodel contractors, this is a common sight when you open the walls up. Why is some fiberglass pink and some brown? That is a stain caused by air moving between the inside and outside of the building. Yes, stucco, drywall, wood, and other building materials can allow air to pass through. And with it comes moisture and contaminants. You filter the air moving through your HVAC system, but probably never thought your walls were letting that happen every day.
You pay to condition indoor air, but your walls and attic leak that money every day.
Spray Foam Insulation is the only true Air Barrier insulation. It fills all gaps and holes so the outside stays outside, and the inside in.
Who should NOT install your spray foam ?
Due to the complexity involved, this is not something just anyone can install. This is one of the few products that is manufactured on site at the time of installation. Since there is chemistry involved, there are several variables that must be considered every time. Factors such as outdoor temperature and weather conditions, the material being sprayed, and the condition of the equipment must all be considered. There are many factors that must remain monitored throughout the process. The quality of the finished product depends heavily on the experience and expertise of the applicator.
Unfortunately , even though regular insulation contractors or Attic Cleaning services may offer to install spray foam insulation, most simply lack the expertise to do it correctly, and don't fully understand what they are doing, or what can go wrong. This can lead to costly problems and lawsuits. There is a real problem in our industry, with companies offering or providing spray foam installation, without proper training and education. Don't hire someone who offers it as PART of their business. Look for someone where that's ALL they do !

Fiberglass Batts
Fiberglass batts are typically one of the more economical insulation options. However, fiberglass insulation does not provide the same type of continuous air sealing as spray foam. Which brings with it moisture contaminants and energy loss, which results in an overall poorly performing product, which is rarely installed properly. Builders love it, because it is cheap, but if you do your research, you will find this one to be an outdated method to build with.

Decent for sound control, and fire resistance, but similar to fiberglass it allows air to pass through and thus the same problems. More expensive than fiberglass, but less itchy for the installer. When it comes to eco-friendly, this product is terrible for the environment. It uses a massive amount of energy to make it , and causes air pollution, toxic byproducts and so on. Some may contain Formaldehyde too !

About 80% recycled paper. It often comes with a rodent repellant. So the positives are, we keep trash out of the landfill, but the negative is its put in your house. In addition to that, over time this material compacts under its own weight, reducing its thickness and, consequently, its R-value.
It also allows air to pass through and moisture. So the next problem is paper and moisture + warmth = MOLD.
There's better ways to insulate !

More expensive than the others, heavy weight and poor performance when wet. This material abosrbs moisture easily and stays wet. This increases the likelyhood of MOLD. Most builders shy away from this product, due to the cost and the problems it can introduce. It also passes air like the others... so not much of a gain unless you just like the idea that your old blue jeans get a second life.

This is one of my favorites. Straw bales have been touted as a great eco-freindly building material. But to get a decent insulator you have to give up 18"-24" of space on every exterior wall ! Yikes! Not only that, you are creating a nice cave for rodent activity, who by the way love the cozy habitat you just made for them with a food source. It also traps moisture, so you can also expect MOLD at some point. Let's leave this one for farm animals. In 2026 we can do better...

Ok lets tip our hats to the best insulation...Aerogel is the superior product all around. It delivers an exceptional R-value (roughly R-10 to R-20 per inch) that outperforms traditional fiberglass or foam, while remaining hydrophobic, fireproof, and extremely thin. Its great, that's why NASA uses it for space craft and travel to Mars. So unless you are a Billionaire, you'll probably have to settle for second best.
